Best Video Transmitter for FPV Drone Comparison Table

July 24, 2020 by GooseFPV Leave a Comment

Clickable tables (above) will take a few seconds to load… CLICK tables for latest prices. OFFICIAL DJI DIGITAL FPV OWNERS GROUP was asked to vote for their ‘preferred vtx for digital FPV?’. DRONE RACING INTERNATIONAL FPV and T-MOTOR FPV motors groups were asked to vote for their ‘favourite vtx for racing?’. Longe Range Hooligans group was asked to vote for their ‘favourite vtx for long-range?’. Maximum mW and weight data sourced from product descriptions. The majority of links on this table are affiliate links. I receive a commission (at no extra cost to you) if you make a purchase after clicking one of the affiliate links. Read our Affiliate Link Policy for more information.

Use our comparison table to find the video transmitter (VTX) for racing, long-range or digital FPV with the greatest popularity, lowest weight, greatest transmission power or value. Digital VTXs require the DJI digital FPV camera. Racing and long-range VTXs require non-digital (e.g. analog) FPV cameras. Next, explore the VTX choices of championship winning FPV racers and freestyle pilots or continue reading for the opinions of individual FPV pilots.

OFFICIAL DJI DIGITAL OWNERS GROUP – Digital VTX Opinions

I’m not sure which I like better. Vista or air unit. Both have their purpose. For me normal 5” flying and racing around trees I prefer air unit. Micro sized and light weight 5” on a normal open course vista  Kelvin

I haven’t flown my AU’s since I got my Vistas aside from the comparison vlogs 😳  Conrad

For me the vista and bandoo got enough range on 200mw, no problems with analog users and more range than 800mw analog  Patrick

5 inch = AU, otherwise Vista  Rick

Long Range Hooligans – Long-range VTX Opinions

In fairness, I know 1.3Ghz is better and penetration is great when using just omni. My long range is always casual, quick setup times, there is literally no beating a 400-1W 5.8Ghz system for 10-15km when you can literally just screw a tiny crosshair or spironet 13dbi to your goggles and have good video. All without needing a ground station. If I’m going to take the time to shoot out to like 20km+, I will make the effort of setting up the ground station  Josh

I haven’t actually done any propper long range with it, but I’ve really been liking the fx2 dominator, it needs to be cooled well, but it puts out a clean 1.8w of power as measured on proper lab equipment. I have no idea what amp they’re using to do it, but they’re doing something right  Luke

Any of them will do good with good antennas. A good receiver antenna is worth 10 vtxs  Mike

Clickable table (above) will take a few seconds to load… CLICK table for latest prices. *Includes antenna weight. **Complete low-latency / long-range control systems. DRONE RACING INTERNATIONAL FPV and T MOTOR FPV motors groups were asked to vote for ‘what low-latency / long-range transmitter have you had a positive experience with?’ (LL/LR). Long Range Hooligans group was asked to vote for ‘for mini quads, what long-range control transmitter have you had a positive experience with?’ (LR). Use our comparison table to find the low-latency / long-range control transmitter (Tx) module and receiver (Rx) with the greatest popularity, radio frequency power, lowest weight or most value. Note that the TBS Crossfire Lite lacks the bluetooth module of the ‘full’ TBS Crossfire module. DRONE RACING INTERNATIONAL FPV – Low-latency / Long-range Transmitter and Receiver Opinions

If u have the money buy the Crossfire lite and be done with it forever. Never need another upgrade. The Crossfire micro is good for mid range but if u want the option to fly far, might as well go for the better one (Lite). The difference between full Crossfire and lite is bluetooth and 50 bucks  Ryan

I own or have owned all 3 (TBS Crossfire transmitters). Have not done any true long range flying. I do mostly racing and freestyle. All have worked great, but if you do not have the need to use any other protocols get the tango 2 hands down imo  Rob

T-MOTOR FPV motors – Low-latency / Long-range Transmitter and Receiver Opinions

I’d say crossfire but I can also say that I have had a good and easy time with r9 so there isnt a wrong here  Aryan

Dude just buy a crossfire no more polls!  David

Longe Range Holligans – Long-range Transmitter and Receiver Opinions

All the crossfire receivers besides the giant diversity one are pretty much the same thing. I use the micro in wings but I use the nano in my quads and smaller wings I use the nano diversity. It’s pretty much the same thing. Anything crossfire works the best hands down and I think a lot of people can agree with me on that. Don’t long range with spectrum or anything. If your gonna long range for a quad just get crossfire  Christian

Holy hell man! Stop with the poles! Just buy a crossfire and be done with it  Mike
